Wearable Art
Wearable Art was a major part of my Textile Art journey and the images on this page reflect some of the major pieces created over the years.
Whisper Scarves & Shawls
The contemporary lace I create was once given the name Whisper Lace by a gallery worker because to her they felt like whisper. I really liked the description and have since called them Whisper Scarves and Shawls.
The scarves are approx. 145cm long and the shawls are semi-fitted over the shoulders. They are light, feminine and unique. No two are the same.

All A Blur
This garment is inspired by the blur of colour as a Rainbow Lorikeet speeds past with a few feathers left behind as the only evidence.
Techniques: Fabric created by stitching onto dissolvable fabric using thread, knitting yarn and silk. Raw edge applique motifs onto the dress.
Carnivale
Inspired by the Carnivale in Venice where the mask allows you for a day to be someone else, to show another side of the self.
Techniques: Raw edge applique onto silk, contemporary lace created on dissolvable fabric.

The bodice for this garment was completely free motion stitched and is attached to a skirt that has layers of contemporary hand made lace. The shawl is also a hand made lace shawl with flower motifs stitched into the lace.
Once Upon A Time
Exhibited at World of Wearable Art (1995), Nelson, New Zealand, in the Wedding Dress section.
The dress bodice lace is created on dissolvable fabric using confetti size pieces of wedding dress fabric (from scraps of leftover fabric from previous wedding dresses I created for customers).
The cape is a series of eight thread painted images of brides and quotes. Here are some closeups of a few of them.
