Designing your own Textile Art / Art Quilt with Lois Parish Evans

6th-7th April 2024  |  Aroha Quilts, Te Aroha

An introductory design and art quilt workshop

This is a stand alone workshop but there will also be 6 x one day per week follow up classes after the initial weekend. Dates to be advised.

In this workshop we will explore ways to design a textile artwork/quilt by learning design and textile art techniques.

Beginning with basic shapes that Lois will provide, we will look at ways of creating interesting and appealing art quilt designs.

Using raw edge applique, hand colouring, hand painting and thread painting, we will work with the elements of design such as line, colour, shape, pattern, texture and learn to build further layers on our quilts .

For more information contact Karen Larsen at Aroha Quilts on 07 884 4590.

Abundance on Exhibit in Japan

Abundance” has been home briefly before heading off to the Quilts for Hitachi Project for the 19th Friendship Quilt Exhibition 2024 in Hitachi, Japan.

Awards by Lois Parish Evans | Textile Artist and Designer

Hitachi is Tauranga’s sister city and I have had a quilt at a few of these exhibitions.

Artists Statement:

An abundance of Eucalypt flowers in full bloom glow in the soft morning light. These trees are growing proud, strong and straight; healthy with an abundance of leaves and vibrant flowers. The symbolism associated with Eucalyptus is strength, protection and abundance.
